CREATE. SUPPORT. PRODUCE.
CREATE. SUPPORT. PRODUCE.
We say pain can be transmuted to inspiration.
Often, creatives romanticize pain.
Creates pain.
Receives and gives pain.
What is the point ?
We can love, heal and love again.
Without burying the other in our mire.
If each time we breathe, we find the good.
If each time we wake, we refresh our soul.
We do not need pain to create.
Our masterpieces do not come from the ether.
It is from the experiences of our soul.
The tactile, spontaneous and delectable gathering of the abstract.
The dance of light and shadows.
We are not here to create problems to solve.
Nor to escalate the problem to be a hero.
We are not here to intensify difficulty to have sympathy.
Nor to escalate challenges to build false philosophies.
We are not here to entertain trouble.
We are here to let life be deeply good.
Laying claim to an awakening that evokes life experiences in its purest form, stripped of embellishments and excess.
It transcends the narratives spun by our minds and the emotions tightly held by our hearts.
True freedom lies in embracing the journey unconditionally, devoid of labels, stories, or justifications.
I cherish everything.
Epiphany, the revelation of my personal chiaroscuro.
Any traveling producer who has been away from home would attest to the need to just go for a long walk,
bask in gratitude for the team, weather, the simple mundane things that make for a great shoot day.
A simple evening where the most challenging decision is - where can I sit quietly and have a cold beer while churning out the call sheet.
And the universe just sends its cosmic humor in the most adorable way.
An extra coaster. A cold one, right by a half open door. Somewhere .. anywhere. Waiting for myself to walk in. Been a lot of half open doors, extra coasters, cold ones from the tap, somewhere.. anywhere .. nowhere.
Nobody walked in.
I am exactly where I need to be. I walked in, drank the cold one, a long time ago.
It's human nature to seek peace and tranquility in our surroundings. But what if we could find that same sense of calm within ourselves, even in the midst of chaos?
It's easy to feel serene when we're surrounded by nature's beauty, but true serenity comes from within. We can find that treasured bliss in the busiest of places and the noisiest of crowds. It's about learning to tune out the noise and focus on the stillness within us.
“You need to have the fire and passion for filmmaking to tell compelling stories that strike the heart”
“Don’t be afraid to explore and find your own path”
Direk Tikoy as we fondly call him is a force to reckon with. He is complex and volatile. An amazingly creative and passionate artist.
He can be both intimidating and inspiring.
This fearless and creative person is like a storm on a sunny day and a blast of sunbeams on a cloudy one.
One of the most difficult person to work with and one of the most significant person in my journey as a producer.
Direk Tikoy is more than a mentor. He is the only one I worked with in-house and it was tough. It was so tough that after a few years under his tutelage, I put up my own company with his fond blessings.
“You are ready” he said.
I am going to miss him.
I also see him painting in the clouds, getting ready for his next adventure, probably writing a new screenplay and catching up with Kubrick.
Thank you Amable Tikoy Aguiluz VI .
Johanna
Note : Direk Tikoy is one of the more progressive directors of his time and known for his award -winning films Boatman, Segurista and Rizal sa Dapitan among others.
